It's been a little over a month since my last newsletter. So I'm as good as on track for sending one each month. Oof! 😜 I've been working on a few projects since my last newsletter but the main focus has been Diabetic & Me. Which I will explain you in more detail further below.
First off, I want to thank you for following my journey. Without you this wasn't the same.
It was exciting and stressful at the same time to click on that send button. But I did it and 24 hours after sending my first newsletter I got some great results. This made me a happy man.
While I'm writing this newsleter the statistics of the previous one improved. The most important metric for me is the amount of subscribers. That is now 64 in total and it motivates me even more to write and share the rest of my journey. My website got featured on Inbox Stash and mentioned on Twitter by Inbox Stash, Choong Foo and Fajar Siddiq.
To talk about the Landing Page Specialist I need to take you back a couple of years. I used to work at companies that offer conversion rate optimization (CRO). We had to refuse or stop working with small businesses because our prices were too high or the value of our offering was unclear. There was no option to lower prices or offer a custom solution because of our internal processes and work load. There is a ton of tools out there but not everyone has the know-how how to use them or even execute it to get the best results.
My main motivating factor was to help improve conversion for small business and start-ups. Inexpensive consultation, clear goals and a quick and clean execution. If you take the right approach there is a way to offer quality for a lower price.
Since I launched the project 3 clients signed up. The first client had a bigger scope in mind and turned into a monthly project that Sean is working on. The two other clients signed up but the projects got a bit delayed on their end. I hope to talk about the workflow and results of these projects in an upcoming newsletter.
A few statistics since the launch on August 4th:
My main focus at the moment is Diabetic & Me. I'm a type 1 diabetic since 1996. That's a strong 24 years so far. I've been planning to create a platform for diabetics since a long time ago but never had a clear path in what direction I wanted to go.
The first idea was an online diary for blood sugar results and second idea was to combine this with your food intake and exercise. Since I'm not quite the best developer I never got to the point to actually create this. Years passed and a lot of those apps exist nowadays. When I created my personal website the urge to give something back to the diabetes community grew.
I always had a hard time eating out in restaurants as a diabetic. How much carbs are in this food and what should my insulin intake be? This resulted a lot in high but also low blood sugars. (which are bad) I had the idea to create a website that listed diabetic friendly restaurants. That became a lot of work to get it up and running fast. Eventually I switched the direction of the website.
I wrote an interview for diabetics with the intention to share the stories behind the lives of diabetics. After posting on Reddit and Indie Hackers I received many positive comments and the first interviews were submitted. I wrote the first interviews and posted them on the website.
I received a total of 25 submissions and they are still coming. I automated a part of the interview with an online form where a mail with a link to the interview in is sent to the interviewee. When they submit the interview via Google Forms an automated email via Integromat is sent where I ask permission to use their full name and some nice photos to add to the story.
I created a Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account where I post the stories and photos. After 4 days I had 100 followers on Twitter and it's still increasing.
A Telegram group is open where diabetics and non-diabetics can discuss several topics.
I intend to keep writing stories and publish several blog posts. In the mean time I am building a database with diabetic friendly restaurants and plan to release that to grow the community.
Some statistics since the launch on November the 11th:
In the next newsletter I will discuss in more detail how I am growing my user database and interviews for Diabetic & Me.
I was able to make it this far through your support, opinions and advice, so…
Thank you and enjoy the holidays!
